Deerington Re-App
Sep. 6th, 2020 08:50 pmIN CHARACTER
Character Name: Krolia
Canon: Voltron: Legendary Defender
Canon Point: Season 7, Episode 5, "The Ruins"; at the end where Team Voltron leaves and Krolia stays with Kolivan
In-Game Tattoo Placement: Behind her right ear, in white ink due to her purple skin tone. It'll look like this
Current Health/Status: Alive and in good health
Age: In canon, it's never alluded to Krolia's age, not even on some sort of inter-galactical time keeping scale. She's old enough to have a son that's around 19-21 years of age, but she doesn't look any different than in the flash blacks of her and Keith's father, before Keith was even born. It's never stated how the Galra age and if it's any different than humans. In terms of her looks, however, probably middle/late 30s if we're using human years.
Species: Galra
Content Warnings: Inter-species romance (human & alien with hybrid baby); violence, mentions of character death
History: Wiki here
Following the events of the battle against Lotor at the Quintessence Field and the sacrificing of the Castle of Lions, Krolia joins the rest of Team Voltron and as they attempt to travel towards Earth using the five lions. It's during this travel that they discover that three years have past since anyone had last seen and/or heard of them, due to crazy space/time shenanigans with the field.
During their trip, the lions pick up a distress single that Krolia recognizes has being one that belonged to the Blades. In investigating, the team discovers that Macidus, a druid of Haggar's, had managed to capture Kolivan and was using his distress code as a way to lure in other Blades, wherein he would then ambush and kill them (he keeps the fallen Blade's blades up on a wall – Krolia notes that she recognizes some of them). He traps the rest of the team except for Keith and Kosmo, who then track him down and kill him. After freeing Kolivan, she agrees to go with him in order to find the rest of the Blades that are still out there. She and Keith part, wherein Keith returns her Blade to her and they both say goodbye with 'I love you.'
CRAU History and Impact: She is coming in with her experiences and memories from her first time in Deerington, which have affected her in the following ways:
When she first arrived, she and Keith tried to kill each other in a corn maze, so there's that. She also ended up becoming Team Mom to the Voltron crew, as she was the one that gave comfort and patched them up after people randomly turned into monsters. Besides, Shiro couldn't be the adult all the time, after all.
There is one person she encountered in Deerington that drove her crazy – Shiro's boyfriend, Adam. Adam was the one who originally let it slip to her that leaving her lover and son behind on Earth ended up being for naught, because the Galra found them anyway. Of course, when Adam divulged this information, he had no idea that the one he was speaking to was also, in fact, Galra. He found this out later, while at the Maus House and Krolia came out of her bedroom only to find Adam in the kitchen. There was yelling, Krolia promising to tell Adam exactly how Keith was conceived and born and Adam throwing a spoon at her. She still hasn't forgiven him for that.
In addition to becoming the Mom of Team Voltron, she unofficially adopted Chloe Price, her son's… honestly, she's still not even sure what they were, but Chloe was important to Keith, so she became important to Krolia as well. Something she would pay dearly for much later, when Chloe killed her. Not on purpose and Krolia has long since forgiven her, but it was a somber reminder that one cannot let their guard down in Deerington, even among friends and family.
Of course, with Keith and Chloe having their thing, Krolia ended up having to give them the talk. Especially after Keith was convinced that somewhere in their bloodline, they were descended from those face hugger aliens that appeared in some grossly inaccurate Earth movies. She's not entirely sure that, even to this day, she managed to get through to him, but since there isn't any more human/Galra hybrid babies running around, she figures she was marginally successful.
Personality:
Krolia is a woman who has many different facets to her. For one, she’s loyal and devoted, especially to the Blade’s mission and their philosophy of ‘Knowledge or Death’. Before she came to Earth, she had been embedded in Zarkon’s forces, as part of a scouting party in order to search for the quintessence markers of the other four lions of Voltron. In discovering the one on Earth, she turned against the other in her party and ended up crashing on Earth. While fully prepared to sacrifice herself and die to make sure the Blue Lion didn’t end up in the wrong hands, she ended up being saved by a human, instead.
She made the most of her situation and ended up partnering up with the human male who had saved her, whom she fell in love with (and apparently wasn't important enough to give a name to). When he asked if she was going to return to her people, she told him 'no' and that she found a new mission now. The both of them worked together in order to try and protect the lion (and had Keith in the process), it wasn’t long before more scouting parties of Zarkon’s made it to Earth and Krolia was forced to leave her love and son behind in order to protect that which she loved the most, sacrificing a life with her family in order to keep both them and the universe from harm.
While she’s a valued and devoted Blade member, Krolia is much like her son when it comes to those she holds dear. She is willing to compromise the mission in order to save her son by bartering passage off of Ranveig’s base for her and Keith by offering up the codes to the super weapon on the base. This all ends up being part of a greater plan, however, when it’s revealed that Krolia manipulated Trugg, because she knew what the super weapon really was – a quintessence-enhanced killing machine who was rather hungry at the time – and like she told Keith, it wasn’t so much that they handed the weapon over to her, as Krolia pretty much handed them over to it. She’s a fast thinker – when the situation was going south during Keith’s mission to extract her, she was able to look at the situation from the outside and think quickly on her feet, turning a rapidly escalating situation into a tactical advantage.
She doesn’t waver from her duty even when she’s being a little bit impulsive, but Krolia is able to think around it and shape it so that in the end, it works out in the way she wanted. Her methods might be a bit unorthodox (such as feeding her enemies to a hungry creature), but one cannot deny that they do work out and it helps compensate for the more impulsive tint to some of her behaviors. After all, she had no idea Keith would be the one sent to retrieve her from that mission, and while she welcomed his presence, one cannot help but note that there was a bit of a conflict of interest – Blades are willing to die for their mission and are even prepared to either be left behind or to leave someone behind. Krolia was not about to let that happen to Keith – "I left you once before, I’m not going to do it again."
When they actually do separate; after spending two years bonding on the back of a space, hooking back up with Voltron, and then fighting against Lotor and his Sincline ship; they both know it's because of their duties (Keith going to Earth with the rest of the Voltron crew, Krolia with Kolivan to find the surviving Blades and regroup), but they also know that it isn't going to be permanent this time. They’ve reached an understanding on love, family and duty and how to balance the three out.
Above all else – Krolia loves her son and was clearly devoted to his father, if her sudden sorrowful reaction to learning about his death through the memory sharing aspects of the Quantum Abyss was any indication. As she tells Keith, she left to protect the one she loves the most – him. This was also the reason she left her knife behind with her lover, so that he had a tangible link to her and because someday, their son might need it. At the same time, the fact that she loves so deeply, could be her weakness, given that she was prepared to give Trugg the weapon and there was no guarantee that Trugg would take her up on her offer, especially when Trugg had the upper hand with Keith being held hostage at gunpoint.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
Actress/Spy - she was a deep undercover agent of the Blade, managing to get herself inserted into Zarkon's army and gain enough trust that she was privy to the codes for a supposed superweapon. In this same vein, she's also very skilled when it comes to manipulation as not only was she able to manipulate circumstances to gain her undercover slot, she also was able to keep Zarkon and his forces from coming near Earth and discovering the Blue Lion and to hand over Trugg and her forces to the supposed secret weapon instead of handing the weapon over to them.
Highly skilled in combat - Blades undergo extreme training in order to complete their undercover missions. She's a master with her luxite blade and is able to withstand melee combat, as she's been seen taking down multiple enemies in a matter of mere minutes.
Pilot - she's able to pilot Galra cruisers and is shown taking evasive maneuvers in order to keep herself from dying while crashing.

[ Have a familiar face on the network – familiar if you've been here over a year. Yes, she's back, Deerington, and she has a request. ]
I've discovered that I seem to be out of the loop in regards to recent events. If there's anyone available who could provide a summary, the more precise the better, of the past year and a half, I would greatly appreciate it. I was here once before and it seems that that is the timeframe that I seem to be missing.
To anyone new or to whom I haven't met yet, I am Krolia. I would say it's a pleasure, but circumstances being what they are, I don't believe that's quite the emotion I would suggest. However, be what things may, I do hope to make your acquaintance soon.
Thank you.
